I'm looking at doing a 1-2 night overnight on the AT inserting at Bear's Den in Bluemont VA and finishing in Harper's Ferry WV. If anyone has done this segment, can you let me know if it is appropriate to tent or hammock camp overnight along the trail? Also any recommendations for sites? According to the Bear's Den website, it is 19.5 miles to Harper's Ferry. After some research, it appears that camping is off limits in the Loudoun Heights area of Harper's Ferry, but that is all I can find for no camping locations. Many thanks in advance!

I've done this section. The David Lesser shelter is about the midway point. The terrain is not that rugged that you can probably do in just an overnight. Try to get Map 7 of the AT.

You might also consider the Blackburn Trail Center.
