Saturday May 27, 2017 Buttermilk Falls SP, Ithaca NY Was heading up to Syracuse New York for an event on Saturday night so I figured I would get in a few hikes on the way up My first hike was at Buttermilk State Park located in Ithaca NY. I parked in the upper lot off of West King Road. At the northern trailhead of the Rim trail. There is a seven dollar per car entry fee to enter the park (after 9:00 am). One is allowed to hike the trail from sunrise to sunset. I arrived at 7:45 am and no one was available to take the entrance fee. And there was no self-pay station. Oh well !! Did a 2.4 mile loop hike according to my GPS) using the Rim trail and then back up the Gorge trail, as I tend to like heading upstream more that downstream while hiking along creeks if possible. Seems it always rains or is cloudy for my last couple of hikes up in this part of New York. But that definitely had it advantages. As I did not have to deal with any crowds. And had the waterfalls to myself. Buttermilk Creek has carved an impressive Grotto with numerous waterfalls and slides along its course. A few pictures of the waterfalls on this rainy Saturday: Buttermilk FallsUpper Section of Buttermilk FallsFalls on Buttermilk CreekFalls on Buttermilk CreekFalls on Buttermilk CreekFalls on Buttermilk Creek with a deep plunge pool belowFalls on Buttermilk CreekButtermilk Creek's grotto

Incredible!
A timely reminder that while I've visited some of the other waterfalls in the area, Buttermilk Falls State Park remains on my to-do list.

The whole time I was hiking and taking photos. I kept thinking in the back of my mind. " I can only imagine the photos GaliWalker would bring back from here.
After I was done here I went to Fillmore Glen State Park which is only 23 some miles to the northeast. Another impressive glen full of waterfalls.
