Mohonk Preserve (Spring Farm) New York
Went in search of some fall color's in New York this past Sunday at the Mohonk Preserve. Decided to hit an area of the preserve I have never been to before. That being the northeast and Spring Farm portion of the preserve.
The Mohonk Preserve consist of 8,000 acres of mountain ridges, forests, fields, streams, ponds. An extensive array of hiking trails and carriage roads in the preserve provide for some great hiking. And the scenery isn’t shabby either. There is a twelve dollar day use fee to hike in the preserve unless one is a member.
I did a twelve mile loop west/south around Mohonk Lake and to Duck Pond, using the following trails and carriage roads from the Spring Farm parking area: Chapel Trail; Undivided Lot Trail; Clove Path (steep climb)Laurel Ledge Road; Plateau Path; Giants Path; Humpty Dumpty Path (rock scramble); Humpty Dumpty Road; Eagle Cliff Ascent Path (rock scramble); Eagle Cliff Road; Lakeside Trail; Partridgeberry Trail; Forest Drive; Duck Pond Trail (steep downhill); Farm Road Trail; Lenape Lane; Woodside Trail ? Northeast Trail; Bonticou Path; and the Crag Trail
I skipped (Bonticou Crag) my main objective for the day. As I needed to be back to the parking area by 1:00 pm. As I had a commitment for later Saturday night that I had to be back home for. Which just gives me an excuse to head back up and do a hike to the Crag.
As usual the Mohonk Preserve did not disappoint. And the fall colors are well along in that area of New York. Will probably peak in the next week or so.
A few photo highlights for the days hike:

Catskill's from Undivided Lot Trail

The Trapps from Giant's Path
