Anyone know about how to make an app? I have some on my phone that were created by a Civil War organization, where you hold the phone up and it will show you the major locations on the battlefield. I was thinking that it would be nice to put in the GPS coordinates for the mountains so when you look in the distance, you can see the names of the mountains you are looking at. Anyone tech-savvy?

Those apps are known as augmented reality and a few already exist to show mountain names. On my phone right now I have Peaks USA and LookAround. These are both apps where you hold the phone camera up and it displays the scene with peak names superimposed. I also have PeakFinder which works a bit differently but gives similar information.

Thanks. Didn't know they had those. I guess you need signal though, correct? Distinct lack of that most places we go.

You only need GPS signal, not cell, at least with one of those apps you get one free state download of the mountain peak data which is stored on your phone offline. The others may do that also.
