And my understanding is that yes, they are fossils. Though perhaps tracks. Look up arthrophycus.

Thanks, Ed. Yes, I did the Tuscarora-Standing Stone Loop a couple weeks ago and the Cowens Gap-Tuscarora last Saturday. If the weather is ok I will do the 3rd hike there this Saturday. I saw your long critique about it, and the seriously negative reviews it got, hope its not so bad!

Well, I suspect some parts of the Lockard Trail and the King-Lockard connector will be a bit mushy, but that shouldn't make you change your mind. Near the end of the King logging road, make sure to find the woods road that circles around the marshy area there.
Also, per my review, consider starting the hike by walking the road up to the Plank Trail and then to the Tuscarora.

It is my understanding that the fossils are of a prehistoric worm of some sort.
