My husband and I did a quick backpacking trip with two friends and a dog this weekend. We did the Laurel Highlands Trail from PA Route 653 to the backpackers' parking lot near Ohiopyle State Park. It was such a nice trip. We had good weather (overcast on Saturday, sunny on Sunday). We stayed in one of the shelters at mile 6. That was kind of a treat: bathrooms, a pile of split firewood, a water pump, and a fireplace in our shelter. Can't ask for much more than that. A passage between large boulders. There were several spots along the trail like this. They were all pretty neat. A small pond along the trail. One of the mile markers on the LHT. Our shelter at Ohiopyle. Oak leaves. The Youghiogheny River from the trail.

Cool! Nice to see the Laurel Highlands Trail from someone else's eyes.
