www.outsideonline.com/2011326/murder-appalachian-trail
This article revisits the 1990 double murder on the AT that forever changed the trail, not to mention the families of the victims. It is worth reading. The trail where these two impressive lives ended would also provide solace and comfort to those affected by this tragedy.

One reason I always backpack armed. I don't worry as much about 4 legged predators as much as the 2 legged ones.

I either wasn't aware of that crime or had forgotten about it. That was a beautifully written article, but such a sad story.
