Last Thursday-Friday I did a quick overnight on Tibbet Knob. The half mile / 300' gain each way from FR691 was about right as I'm recovering from a sore heel. Left my house at 3:30pm, and was sitting down to dinner at the camp site at 6:30. Not bad for rush hour. Had the site all to myself, enjoyed watching the sunset and the seeing the stars come out. In the darkness I could only see one light in the entire valley. I slept thru the sunrise but made up for it by having a second cup of coffee while looking out over the valley. What a vantage point: Great views of Big Schloss, Half Moon Mt., and the entire Trout Run Valley.

That valley is pretty nice. Not many houses up the valley that far, so no lights. The other end of the valley has wardensville, and it ain't too big...

I did. "I could see for miles and miles." Waiting for this hot humid weather to break so I can do another overnight with short mileage, maybe Little Schloss.
