Has anyone been in the area recently? Normally I sleep in a hammock but I will be taking a first timer out in a couple weeks and can't remember what the bugs are like this time of year. I'm planning a simple ground tarp setup.
Any input is appreciated as always, thanks!

I believe Country Roads and Happy Camper were there over the weekend. Had reports of many hikers though.

I talked to Happy Camper and she said the bugs weren't bad, at least in DSN. In fact, I've never seen them bad up there. She said there were loads of people in for the blueberries and it was calm and still one night and relatively warm and 48° the next night. Also noted there were way too many people at the Left Fork of Red Creek spot. My recommendation - avoid weekends up there for now.

I just don't feel like driving up to NC PA. I'm probably going to try and get an early start Saturday in the Roaring Plains and hopefully find a spot on Canyon Rim. More than likely I'm going to lose my hiking partner so if anyone is interested in joining me it'll be August 7,8,9
