Did you do the Lost Meadow? How was that climb out?

There was no way through the brush at the end of Lumberjack, but I found a small path off to the right. I wandered around and found a campsite. I went straight out the back and was in a meadow, I guess its the Lost Meadow, but I couldn't find the rock or any vistas. I did see turkeys and snakes, did you get the video? After seeing the snakes, I decided wading through the waist high grass was not the best idea.

You didn't go far enough. The large meadow is through the next bit of trees.

Trying to find the lost meadow in Summer or fall, is a pain, the grass grows so high, it's hard to get through. I know the time Arf and I went a few years ago in October, the grass was too high to wade. Early spring would be the best time I'd think.

Did almost the same trip weekend before last but started on Seneca Creek. Got in a little late on Friday night, so only did 3 miles and then camped. Big thunderstorm with heavy rain that night, but we hit the trail around 9:00 the next morning and hiked down to the falls, then up Horton Trail to High Meadows trail and then out Lumberjack and up the Huckleberry trail to Spruce Knob. 12.5 mile day give or take. Not the recommended way perhaps, but I enjoyed it in spite of the pretty constant uphill all day! My 17 year old daughter hiked it with me and I told her that after hiking that route in the mud she was a "certified hiker". Or perhaps just certifiable....

I don't think Lumberjack ever dries out. That water must just seep out of the side of the mountain there.
