Looks to be another place for me to take a hike. As I never been there, and from you post, plus link to the DCNR web page for the park looks to be an interesting place for me to head to some weekend.

Salt Springs is worth it. There is an extensive trail system on both the state park and adjacent Friends of Salt Springs property. While in the area, check out Woodbourne Preserve, owned by the Nature Conservancy. It too has an old growth forest and a pond/bog that teems with wildlife-birds, amphibians, and insects, not to mention beavers.
