I stumbled across a nice 15'? waterfall within first stream mile of the tiny un-named Mehoopany Creek trib just north of scouten brook in sgl57. Trib on same side of mehoopany as scouten. The trib was dry/underground at its mouth near new bridge over mehoopany, but upstream there was water, and then cascades, chutes, and waterfall. This land added to sgl. in recent years. Good place to be careful, some lose rocks, steep sections, and slippery smooth bedrock. By the time the stream hike gets more challenging, there's a parallel grade above. I would definitely watch for snakes, clear bear signs. Good grades join stream near falls, don't know where they go, I fished this area then moved on. Scenic spot not that far in by area standards. Also, stream is not as full of trees as some mehoopany tribs after major floods of last decade....

Very nice. That is a scenic little stream. Scouten also has some cascades and falls.

interesting set of grades meet near that waterfall... one on south side very good condition. one to NE looks interesting for another day. (image is clunky screen shot from pasda.org's "PA atlas" set to hillshade basemap)
