A fascinating and tragic piece of American history. In 1911, a negligently constructed concrete dam burst, destroying the town of Austin below it and taking 78 lives. The massive concrete blocks, split, and pushed aside is an impressive sight and worth the trip. I also drove the East Fork Road near the village of Wharton, a very beautiful drive in isolated Appalachia. I highly recommend it.

Wow. That is really impressive. It is a little terrifying to imagine the force of water that would have moved those slabs.
