I recently explored another gem in SGL 57- a secret waterfall gorge that few have seen. To get there we passed cascading streams, giant boulders and ledges, nice views, and a unique spring with the most delicious water. An incredibly special place. Enjoy.

Good to see you finally made it over to the drainages. Did you explore both of them, or just one??? I did already make it to the large overhang you show in your photo
Great area to explore

Looks like a fantastic spot! Very nice. Yes it is but as Jeff says. I takes some serious effort to get to. I tried twice and turned back both time. Anyway you try it's approximately five miles one way of heavy bush whacking to get there.

Hoosier,
I did not get to the other drainage since we took the very long way into the waterfall gorge. The gorge was a beautiful spot with a nice sized creek, it probably flows all year. When it is green, it must be very beautiful. The flood line was surprisingly high, hard to imagine all the water that was coming down that gorge. Lots of erosion and boulders. We had to be careful since some the slopes and rocks were still unstable. The creek is fairly "gorged in" with lots of steep slopes. Definitely worth the hike. In higher water, the highest falls would be impressive since it would be a wide cascade in a big grotto.
There is a new gated PGC road to the north, although it does cross a private parcel along Windy Valley/Bellasylva Rd. Another idea is to go from the south, follow the gated PGC Road (Southbrook, I think) to the Mehoopany and bushwhack from there, although you would have to cross the Mehoopany.

Just wondering how thick it was up top on the plateau on the way over. The one time I whacked across the top of the west side of the Becker Brook drainage along top of the cliffs. Which included the large overhang in your picture. It wasn't all that bad.
I'm always a bit leery (in the back of my mind) of whacking that far in solo. Even though I leave info on my intended route with someone. And always call as soon as I'm out and have cell reception.
Plus I always look at bail out routes before heading into the area.

Not that thick, other than the typical beech saplings. Little mountain laurel. I'm leading a hike at the end of May across Bartlett Mtn from White Brook to Caitlin Brook, this challenging bushwhack will hit all the highlights (but not this hike), if you are interested. Cailtin Brook is another water gem, but is very, very steep.
