I'd like to fly to the area to hike Dolly Sods. What's the closest major airport?
So far, I found that Dulles is about 3 hours away, Pittsburgh is 4, Charleston is 4, but is anything closer/better? Morgantown seems to be about 2 hours away, but all flights there have 2 stops and are twice the price of flying to Dulles.
Am I missing any obvious airports? Thanks, Steve

Clarksburg has an airport that is served from Washington I believe. Of course there are the little airports like the one in Canaan Valley.

Clarksburg is the closest, but you'll have to find a connecting flight from Pittsburgh. Probably cheapest and best to come in from Dulles, or Pittsburgh. This is WV, there are no international airports here. The Dolly Sods area is in one of the roughest parts of WV, hell, WV is all pretty rough. Your going to have to drive to get in here, unless you know a private pilot.

Thanks for the info! I think it's going to end up being Dulles as it's an hour closer by car according to Google Maps.

Pittsburgh shouldn't be more than 3 hours 15 minutes, depending on time of day. I drive from NEO to Petersburg in 5 hrs and am about 1:45 from the PIT airport from where I start in NEO.
Petersburg has a general aviation airport (Grant County), but IDK if it's served by any puddle jumpers.

unless you have a personal plane, Clarksburg is the nearest commercial airport to anything in North central WV.
