How many of you have been WV backpacking and had the whole herd running down the trail? Happened to jnk556 and I twice. Once in Seneca Creek and once in Roaring Plains. Since then, we check their website to see when and where they are running when planning a trip. www.wvmtr.org/

Was up on roaring plains when they had a training run. The first fella came up to me in a blind tight corner in rhododendron. Didn't hear or see him coming scared the crap out of me for some reason just wasn't ready for that. I think i saw about a dozen runners that day.

Well, we were out along the canyon rim in when the actual run took place in RP, so we missed the herd, but had a few runners checking out the course the day before. But we ran into them headlong up in Seneca. It was a PITA because we were going in opposite directions.
