I wish there were a place to discuss volunteer trail maintenance and construction, transcending a particular organizational context. I suspect such a discussion would get off to a slow start, though.

Most new topics probably will. A lot of people are lurking to see how this develops but so far I'm pleasantly happy. If we created that board you would have to work with other trail work groups to post topics - maybe advertise trail work days, asking for volunteers.

I'm not sure it'd be a good idea to set up a whole bunch of subforums yet. Maybe see what the general forum gets a lot of posts on. Having said that, the obvious one I can think of would be a group hike/meet up/hiking calendar forum.

What about local environmentalism campaigns and meetings? I mention it because Ned Tillman, who has written about the Chesapeake Bay and is an active environmentalist and naturalist, has started a campaign called, Saving the Places We Love savingtheplaces.com. That might be of interest to folks here. Include it in General Discussion?

I'd like a bikepacking forum if that's not too far off the mark. I really enjoyed the recent post on the Great Allegheny Passage Trail. Bike packing is something I hope to do more of along with my backpacking.

What do you think about trail conditions/new developments out & about? Should something like that go in 'Regional Hikes', 'general discussion'? BTW its very nice to see a local forum!

I think it would be best for members to post "as needed" or "as discovered" threads concerning "specific" trail conditions in the Regional Hike Board. To date we've gotten very good response about the forums.
