I'd planned this nice hike atop West Virginia's Roaring Plains plateau. Unfortunately, I got stymied by step-1, which was a crossing of the South Fork of Red Creek. Due to incessant rain the past few days the creek was running too high and fast to make the crossing relatively safely. Worried about my photography gear getting wet if I got knocked down into the water, as well as the state of the other stream crossings on the hike, I decided to call it off.
Now what?
Thankfully, the area I was in is chock full of waterfalls, all of which were bound to be thundering...
