I'm heading up there again in about a month and am curious what everyone's routes are to the lost meadow. I think I've gotten there before, but what I saw looks different from what I've seen others post. I assume there are a few different footpaths to follow on the way in?

It might help if you told us how you go in. The main connection is off of the Lumberjack Trail so you could come in via that or up from below via the High Meadows trail. Or were you looking for something more?

I go in via the lumberjack trail. I follow the RR grade through a small clearing, and then through a spruce forest out into the lost meadow. It's definitely a big meadow, but it doesn't match the panoramic Mike has on his site, so I'm wondering if there's a few different access points through that first clearing.

It's been a few years since I was there but there are definitely two different meadows. The first is decent sized and the second is quite large. The second one has a clearing on both sides of the ridge and sets at the base of a small knoll that is covered in trees. Just follow the old grade till you come to it. It sounds like you may have reached it and didn't realize it or you need to go further. The grade definitely comes out down hill from the ridge in the Lost Meadow. Just climb to the ridgeline (very short) to get the great views. If you're in the woods more than a few minutes you're going too far.

The Lost Meadow is separated from the first by some woods. Getting from the first meadow to the main one can be tricky, especially if the grass is high and no one has crossed it recently (which shouldn't be the case for you). I've visited twice; the first time I made it there without a hitch, but my last time it took a while before I managed to find the trail in the woods. And there is a trail. If you're brush bashing, get back out and try another spot. Essentially you need to cut across the first meadow to not quite the end, staying on the left side. Then work your way along the left side until you find the trail in the woods.

The more I think about it the more I remember the path being an old railroad grade and actually pretty easy to follow. I went in May so the grasses weren't too high and the grade was easily visible. If you're going in March or April the grade should be quite apparent. At that elevation you still won't have a lot of vegetative growth at that point and it should be easy to follow. It's a straight shot back.

I didnt have any problems finding the railroad grade on the other side of the first meadow. its roughly east of where you enter the first meadow from the lumber jack trail. I have coordinates if you want them or can use them. also when I was there last (2015) someone had hung up something blue (ribbon/plastic material) from the tree where the RR grade leaves the first meadow. The other posters are correct once you enter the big meadow you have to walk uphill to the ridge to see the best views

If memory serves, I remember there being a pretty discernible footpath across the first meadow from heavy traffic, but I remember it being more to right side. The path through the woods was also a clear path. I remember coming out into the big meadow on the downhill slope and having to head left uphill to catch the views.
I guess the thing that always confuses me is everyone saying go east across the first meadow, which I don't remember doing, so was wondering if there were multiple ways through the first meadow, or I could just be remember it wrong.

Yeah I recognize the entrance. I remember that corridor had a lot of litter. What spot did you take the pano at?
