The Eales Preserve protects part of a vast heath barren outside of Scranton, PA- one of the largest in the eastern US. The barren is home to stunted vegetation, non-stop 30 mile views, and two globally rare moths. It is an excellent place to hike. I set out to hike and see the sunset and experience the magic hour. The sunset was superb as it melted into the horizon, with tiers of red, yellow, and orange. I finished in darkness as the trees cast silhouettes in the slate sky.
