Who knows about Savage River State Forest? I want to check it out for an overnight backpacking trip, or maybe 2 nights. I saw the trail guides on the DNR website, but no maps so I don't know if there is any way to loop them together. Thanks!

Here's the site you need with maps and downloaded trails. Once you open the trail up in Google maps you can download a kml file. I've done part of the Big Savage Mountain trail but have heard that it was heavily damaged by Superstorm Sandy and not cleared. Some people actually had to be rescued from it a few years ago. BTW, loops look pretty difficult to do without road walks of a good distance.

Thanks, vdeal. Nice website! I called SRSF and they said they had everything pretty cleaned up. Their trail guide has a backpacking loop "backpacking trip by connecting a series of trails and forest roads" I need to find out how much is roads!
