It was OK last fall when I checked it. I should be back there next week sometime to go fishing. Just haven't had a reason to drive up top this spring (yet).
ETA, Supposed to snow up there this weekend. North Mountain is kind of on the edge of the winter storm warning, but you never know.

Plenty of snow on top the mountains today. 6" up on Middle Mt. North Fork Mt. was white.

Snow conditions as of today: - Snow free north of FR79 and the Radio Tower. - South of the Radio Tower: A solid cover of 2-3in of fresh powder, which should have melted by tomorrow or the day after. However, there are a few sections of drifts that are 6in - 2ft deep, which will probably take a week or more to melt.

Thanks! I am heading up Thursday to do the whole thing, looks like the weather will be about perfect! Think I need to worry about any lingering snowdrifts?

The snowdrifts will most likely be there, in some capacity or the other. I wouldn't worry about them though.

So christopherrobin , how was it? I'm particularly interested in your report on snow conditions, to get a read on how much, if any, to expect in the Otter Creek Wilderness this weekend.

The snow has pretty much all melted at this point even at higher elevations. I wouldn't count on finding much snow at all.

Thanks guys! I have another longish hike planned, and wanted to know if snow at Otter Creek (which is west of the Allegheny Front, and hence may have got more of the white stuff than North Fork Mountain) would slow me down. Spectacular photos christopherrobin !

Just check the USFS Canaan Valley webcam - no snow to be seen except a little manmade stuff at Timberline - trust me, Otter Creek will be bare of snow - completely. I was down there before the snow and it was very nice. I did nearly nine miles on March 14th and coltsfoot were already blooming and we saw a bald eagle flying down Otter Creek and temps were in the 60's. Any snow that fell is long gone.
