Saturday March 26, 2016 Galbraith Gap (Mid State Trail) Hike Did a nice 10.6 mile loop this past Saturday in the Galbraith Gap area. Parked at the Galbraith Gap trailhead parking lot. Used the following trails to make up my loop hike: Galbraith Gap Trail; short section of the Three Bridges Trail; Spruce Gap Trail, Mid State Trail; Sand Spring Trail; south side of the Bear Swamp Loop; Jean Arron Path; Lonberger Path; and back out Galbraith Gap Trail Seems someone did a bunch of work laying large stones down as pavers to prevent erosion on the steeper sections of the Galbraith Gap Trail. Just after the parking area at Laurel Run Road crossing. Very nice work to whomever was responsible. Forgot how steep and loose the lower and middle section of the Spruce Gap Trail is. Upper section of the trail is much nicer. Views from the Indian Wells were spectacular as usual. Well as long as it’s a clear day. Forgot how pleasant the Jean Arron Path is, even with it being so close to Bear Meadows Road. Parts of the Sand Spring Trail between the Mid State trail and Bear Meadows Loop where a bit brushy, with the under growth being bare yet. Must be even worse come summertime. Was a beautiful sunny day to do this hike with cool morning temperatures during the steep climb up to Little Flat and a nice breeze once up top.
