We took a hike one evening to see the Seven Tubs outside of Wilkes-Barre, featuring a gorge, cascades, and potholes carved into the bedrock. The gorge was dusted with snow as the powerful current cascaded and swirled from pool to pool, embedded in the earth. We also explored big rocks, cliffs, a cave, and ridgeline with views. The sunset was amazing. The Seven Tubs is now a part of the Pinchot State Forest. It is hard to believe that a place of such unique beauty could be so close to an urban area. There were a lot of people hiking, even a couple training with large backpacks.

Seven Tubs is awesome! I've been there once, and while it's a smallish spot, it's really beautiful. Thanks for the report.

There's a 3 mile loop you can do there that is very nice. Laurel Run also has several rapids, pools, and cascades that the trail follows closely. A side stream that flows under the access road also has a gorge and waterfalls. It is a nice place.
