Woolly Bully, Ted E Bear and I went to Cowens Gap to do this hike this weekend. Started out with a treat-the bathroom was open and heated! I guess for the folks ice fishing on the lake. Anyhow, we left the lake behind And headed out on the Tuscarora Trail, which was a nice woods road. There was some road noise, but the cars were few and far between and a lot of run-off but it was mostly nice quiet walking. Heading up Todd Trail was a hump, it was a jackets off, get the heart-going hump, but there were great views at the top. The lake in the distance and Knobsville in the valley The trail was a bit tough on top sometimes with lots of rocks on the ridge and lots of PUDs But the walk back down to the lake was another nice woods road. We will definitely keep this one, do it again and explore more of this area.

The "PUDs" on top were (as usual for the A.T.) due to either land ownership or resource protection concerns.
Imagine what the Todd (ex-Link) Trail was like before the steep part was switchbacked, I remember those hikes...

I know, right! That Todd was a tough SOB. Just looking down the horseshoe trail was enough for me. Its like looking down from that first hill on a roller-coaster!

Kioh failed to mention that he was on the crew that laid those switchbacks in - nice work Pete!
