Does that area get the traffic that Dolly Sods gets?

MrH, it has that feel. Sods are larger.
Chrstopherrobin, few people have been to the balds, they are more isolated and rarely visited. No comparison to the crowds at Dolly Sods.

Are they hard to get to? Is there bushwacking involved or do you follow a trail or fire road up? Any campsites up there?

I didn't bring a GPS on my last hike, so here is a rudimentary hand drawn map. Most of this route follows a trail of some sort, whether it be old grades, forest roads, or old ATV trails. A short bushwhack to the west is required to reach the cliff line and the balds above; this bushwhack will involve traversing boulders and spruce. Try to find a break in the cliff line and scramble up. The largest balds are to the north, but there are nice ones to the south. Bedrock balds occur along the cliff edge where there are many overhangs and large boulders. They also continue west along the north cliff line, but eventually the forest takes over. Tons of neat rock features all along the cliff line. Be careful and enjoy. www.google.com/maps/@41.5090057,-76.1668198,1220m/data=!3m1!1e3

Yowza...that's beautiful! I was on a trip down in the Smokies last week, where fall colors were pretty hit and miss (mostly a miss) and just saw this. Awesome color there.
