On a drive from Pittsburgh to Virginia on Friday after work, I decided to swing past North Fork Mountain, in West Virginia's Monongahela National Forest, and scoot up to Chimney Top for the sunset (5.8mi roundtrip, 2000ft elevation gain). This would be my first sunset there. I made good time up to the viewpoint, getting there about an hour before sunset. I had dodged rain showers on the drive over, but it remained dry for my hike. Right at sunset a band of rain showers arrived; I was just able to pack up my camera gear before it hit. An hour later I was back at the car.
