Chuck Keiper Trail: Boggs Run bypass

There have been a number of reports lately about some serious blowdown damage along the East loop of the Chuck Keiper Trail, particularly along Boggs Run. This has always been a rough section with lots of side hilling and faint trail, but the recent damage appears to be much more extensive, bordering on impassable.
If anyone's planning on heading out there I figured I'd share an alternative route which bypasses Boggs Run (along with Diamond Rock Hollow and Sled Hollow). Be aware that this route isn't exactly easy; the "trails" largely don't exist so it's essentially a bushwhack alongside some streams. They're easier to walk than a similar route along Boggs Run would be though, and are worthwhile in their own right. Do not attempt this route unless you're prepared and comfortable navigating off trail for long distances. You'll likely find no cell phone or internet access here, so you'll need to rely on map and compass. Do not attempt this during deer/turkey/bear hunting season. I haven't tried this route for over a year, so no promises about its current condition. This cuts maybe 3 miles from the official CKT route.
From the southeast, follow Benjamin Run NW from the CKT along Benjamin Run Rd. There's no trail but there is a pipeline clearing that you can cross to get near the stream and follow it upstream. This passes through an old white pine plantation making walking generally easy, but again there's no path at all so you'll need to navigate on your own. Taking care to follow the correct (left) branch at the only major fork you'll eventually (> 1 mile) hit a wide powerline cut. Turn right uphill to access a driveway that you can follow west (left) to Grugan Hollow Rd (also Pete's Run Rd on some maps).
Across the road to the left you'll find a hunting camp. Drop into the forest behind it. There's likely a trail here, but I've never found (or really looked for) it until partway down the steep descent. As long as you head downhill you'll eventually find the faint remnants of Water Trough Hollow Trail, which you can just follow downstream to Rt 144. This valley is deep, wild, and beautiful, but be ready for multiple stream crossings. This appears to be mostly used by hunters, so avoid during the major season. After about two miles you'll hit Rt 144, less than 1/2 mile upstream (south) of where the CKT crosses. You can either walk the road or stream, but know that there's no shoulder along the road, and no trail along the stream.
Again, while this route avoids the damaged section along Boggs Run it's very challenging as well, and is essentially off trail almost the entire way. Best of luck if you try it!
Edit: the map won't attach for some reason so here's a link the meantime.
