Waterfall magic at Ricketts Glen State Park (Pennsylvania - Oct 30, 2019)How can one place have so many fantastic waterfalls? I knew I was going to be hitting Ricketts Glen a little past peak fall foliage, so didn't have much hope of catching a good color display. Boy, was I wrong! Yes, about two thirds of the trees were bare of leaves, but there was still some great color, in both the upper and lower stories. The waterfalls were thundering, which was another surprise, because we've had quite a dry summer in Pennsylvania. I picked Wednesday as my day to visit, because of the cloudy but otherwise calm conditions, perfect for waterfall photography. Finally, since I was hitting Ricketts Glen past peak fall and in the middle of the week, the place was much less crowded. I repeat: How can one place have so many fantastic waterfalls? Stats for the day: - Hiking/photography time: 9.25hrs - 5.5mi, 1200ft gain - Total trip time: 18hrs
