Try finding ramp seed pods in the woods. The green foliage dies back in early summer and the seed pods emerge later.
I have never seen them until I transplanted some ramps from WV into the woods on my property and staked them so I'd know where they were.
I've got a pic somewhere. I'll have to dig it up and post it.
