No, I don't work for NatGeo, though I find their photography quite inspirational. In any case, I think my wife would leave me if I spent all my time "on assignment".  To get vivid colors, you need a polarizer (to remove glare/reflections), a good lens and proper exposure. Also, carefully select the time of day to make optimal use of light; the softer light in the early morning and evening hours are best.

Yes. I did an overnight, going the opposite way so I could get some sunset/sunrise pics. First 2 pics I took by scrambling up some rocks just where the trail flattens out on top. The last is from the first vista coming up from Maupin Fields shelter. Unfortunately, it stayed overcast until I hit I-81 on the way home.

Coppermines trail in the DRWGNRA this past Saturday (02/07/2015). The Woolly Adelgid has wiped out most of the Hemlock's that used to be present in the ravine.

While Pittsburgh shivers under the third straight day of sub-zero (Fahrenheit) temperatures, I'm thoroughly enjoying myself. Miserable conditions make for the best photos!
