Thursday November, 3 2016 Devils Tower Wyoming Just got back from a short four day trip out to Rapid City South Dakota. While out there I just had to make sure I got in some hikes. Arrived in Rapid City Thursday afternoon. And made the two hour drive over to Devils Tower for the first of the three hikes I had planned on doing while out there. Arrived at Devils Tower around 4:00 pm. Did a 4.1 mile hike consisting of the Red Banks trail (counter clockwise) and then another loop around the Tower on the Tower Trail. Ended up driving out just as the sun began to set. Giving the Tower a nice red glow. Pretty much had the Red Banks trail to myself. And seen six people on the Tower trail. Guess if one wants solitude at Devils Tower. Go in November and late in the day. Was a balmy 78 degrees for this hike. A few photo highlights from the days hike. Wow, nice. I just finished the latest Longmire book, and they talked about Devils Tower and how amazing it is to see.
