It was very beautiful, and the hiking was very tedious since most of the "trail" simply followed the shore with sand and loose gravel. Regardless, it was worth it. We saw several seals, a sea otter, and a beached, dead whale. Other highlights were the redwoods and the impressive Fern Canyon. We hoped to hike the Trinity Alps, but bad weather forced us to change our plans. We explored the Whiskeytown Nat'l Rec Area and saw Whiskeytown Falls and spent some time in Weaverville, a nice town. We also saw Castle Crags (in the clouds) and beautiful Burney Falls. It was a great trip.
