CR, Glad you had a good time. Yeah, I like that as a 3 day trip and yes, the downhill at the end is hard. I would imagine that with all of the rain we've had lately that some seasonal springs are running. Thanks for the report. Only if you hadn't already lost your toenails for the year.

My knees don't like slipping in that shale/scree going down that end of the mountain.

That downhill is tough, especially after already doing NFM Trail but for my money the downhill at the north end of Allegheny Mountain Trail at Seneca Creek is worse (okay, that could be because we just had the hike from hell over the past 12 hours and we're going on practically no food with one little light in the dark). :-)

I have not yet done that end of Allegheny Mtn Trail. So, I will consider myself warned I tried real hard to will myself to go faster on the down, but I could just not get it to happen. I tried to use my mantra (Take Me Home Country Roads) song to get into my zen mode, but it was just not feeling like almost heaven at that moment. Best part is that the next hike will be easier and less painful.

Thanks for the report! Good to know about the spring. We are planning to get up there in a couple of weeks, so I'm hoping it will still have a little water in it (not going to count on it without concrete information, though).

As it stands now, I can't get back over there until May 5th. due to an eye doc appointment on the 4th. I'll probably be there for two weeks or so after that.

Well, if any of you are backpacking the mountain this weekend and probably next , give me a shout here and I'll come up to meet you if you're camping at the halfway point.
I'll pm a phone #. Some phones work up there. AT&T and tracfones for sure.
