My annual autumn pilgrimage to my favorite spot in Pennsylvania, the waterfall wonderland of Ricketts Glen: It was a cold and chilly day, the skies were overcast throughout but rain-free, the waterfalls were flowing really well, and the crowds were manageable (thanks to the choice of a weekday trip); just an amazing day at the amazing Ricketts Glen. I reached an empty parking lot around 7:00am, having left Pittsburgh at 2:00am, and immediately took off down the trail. I decided to start with the Ganoga Glen fork of Kitchen Creek. I worked my way down past one waterfall after the other, to the confluence of the Ganoga Glen and Glen Leigh forks of Kitchen Creek, a gorgeous spot called "Where Waters Meet". I continued down Kitchen Creek past the next three waterfalls, before turning around. On my way back, I tackled the waterfalls of Glen Leigh. I closed my loop by taking the Highland Trail back to the parking lot. With a little bit of time at my disposal I drove past Adams Falls, also in Ricketts Glen State Park, and a favorite of mine. Wow, there are a lot of falls there. 20+ named waterfalls in a 5mi stretch, and quite a few unnamed ones!
