Last week I did this 47 mile loop in north central PA. Challenging to say the least! With all of the rain this summer the streams were flowing pretty well, but none of the crossings were particularly difficult. The toughest part for me were the narrow side hill paths, which of course were covered with wet leaves and newly fallen acorns. Some parts were a bit overgrown, but the blazing is pretty decent so no problem keeping on track. One part on the west loop had extensive blowdowns. Owl Run, about a mile up from Burns Run, was really bad. But after making my way thru, pretty smooth sailing thereafter. The stream valleys are magnificent, lots of water going over Yost Falls! in four days I didn’t see any other hikers. This place makes the Black Forest seem a little urban.... The trail guide was helpful, but the included map was too small for me to read. The Sproul State Forest HQ will mail you a much better map.

The KTA works on it every year but it seems fewer and fewer show up to help. Pretty tough to get it all cleared, much less re-digging the sidehill that prior generations of KTA folks thought was good enough at the time.
