Has anyone hiked Sleepy Creek WMA lately?

Not recently, but I'm still familiar with it enough. One thing you may want to check is traffic conditions on I-81 over the Potomac if going that way.

Thanks. Think the recent rains would have affected the trails? I was thinking of doing the Hiking Upward High Rock/Shockeys Knob hike, but extending it using the bike/equestrian trail to make it longer for an overnighter.

Well, the jeep trails part of the TT along the mountain will likely be rather mucky in places. In some of these parts, and others, it will be overgrown. Thankfully, poison ivy is actually not a problem along the trail for the most part. (A bit near the vista at Shockey's Knob, and along the Knife Rim Trail; also plenty in the woods.) Stream crossings still shouldn't be an issue (north of the lake would likely be different). I've not been a big fan of the Brushy Creek bike/horse trail; it's just not that interesting for the most part. The other place to consider would be Pee Wee Point, with goods views in two directions, and a reasonably good one to the west also. Main issue with that is the connector trail from Brushy Creek to Pee Wee Pt Tr. Its lower/western junction can be hard to find if you don't know what you're looking for.

How do you get to Pee Wee Point? Can you pitch a tent up there? I am looking for a place to watch the Perseids next Saturday night. Was thinking Tibbets Knob, but getting tent sites there on Saturday night might be tough.

Pee Wee Point is at the south end of the Pee Wee Point Tr. Further north, the Tuscarora uses part of the trail. Most of it is a jeep trail but in good shape; at the end there are spurs to an east-looking, and a south and west looking vista. Unfortunately, there's no camping in the WMA except for the designated fee campsites, the closest one being Wolf, which is off the Tuscarora near Hampshire Grade Rd.
