hikeer, thanks for checking but that is a bummer. 7.2 miles of road walking means something like 3 hours of walking just on the road, possibly more depending on the snow and ice conditions.

hikeer 's info was spot on. The last 0.4mi of FR75 was too icy for me, so I parked around the 1mi mark. I walked the road up to Bear Rocks, using snowshoes for the entire 3.7mi, although they were only needed for the final mile (the snow was 6" deep), and even then one could have done without. On the way back I only used them for the first 1.5mi of the descent. Bear Rocks was nearly snow free! I stashed the snowshoes and walked the Bear Rocks trail for 2mi. There was a lot of ice up to the crossing of Red Creek - microspikes essential - varying in consistency from rock hard to rotten, and then snow about 4-8" deep. I postholed in some spots up to mid-thigh. I'll post a trip report later, but thought I'd provide a conditions update here.
