^Now that’s what I’d call a response, va3pinner! Loved the storytelling. Have fun in the Windy City, anfhiker!

This was a great season for autumn colors in the mid-Atlantic, particularly in Virginia and West Virginia. I know it's not quite done, and we may yet get one more weekend, but I suspect the grand finale was the last one. On it, I managed to experience this view, which surpasses any fall foliage display I've ever seen before. George Washington National Forest, Virginia (Oct 27, 2023)

Fall in northern Pennsylvania is done, except for the tamaracks - deciduous confers - which were going strong yesterday.

Here in Virginia it's done-done. The colors changed all at once and were gone within a week. It's been a very dry summer/fall here. Warrenton area (Fauquier County) is in a moderate drought, with nearby counties in Severe drought. The only decent rains were in July, so even the long-lasting yellows were gone in a couple days. Two cold fronts that brought strong winds didn't help. Ah well...... there's always next year. Thanks for all the great reports and the great pics! Here's the ironic part - during the week that the colors were around, I was having my driveway dug up to replace sewer lines for both my neighbor and myself (they run side by side so we did both). So not only did I miss the colors, I still have to pay a few thousand dollars for this!!

Northern WV is done. Chestnut Ridge hung on until about a week and a half ago. We've had snow, rain, wind, frost and temps in the low 20's. Not much will last through all that. It's all gray and brown now with the oaks holding their leaves. Gali put the exclamation point on the season with that photo from the GWNF. We've had two great fall foliage years in a row.

Ok, has the board basically died? Besides myself and Gali, no one is really commenting on this thread. Where's arfcomhiker and va3pinner or jmitch? Surely others are out there.
I thought I posted in here a while back, but I guess I messed up.
