A friend and I will be spending 8 to 10 days this summer in Glacier National Park (and Wateron) before heading to the Tetons. We have 3 weeks for the trip. As my friend has never backpacked, I'm not sure we will get into the backcountry too far in Glacier. I'm hoping that will change once I get him acclimated to some great day hikes. He is an avid hunter and fisherman. I have found the website Hike734 as well as Glacier Chat to be very, very informative. Two years ago I did a solo trip to Montana and Wyoming. Another friend (also a non backpacker0 cancelled 3 weeks prior and I just had to go it alone. I spent 2 days in Yellowstone and a couple nights in the Gallatin National Forest north of Big Timber. Have any of you any tips to offer of experiences in these areas? We are both 55 yrs old, if that means anything. I'm really, really, jacked up about this trip.
