Clifty Falls State Park, Madison Indiana Saturday January 30, 2015 This past weekend some travel plans had me out in the State of Indiana and Ohio on Friday and Saturday. As usual when I travel I tend to go on line ahead of time, to search out any areas that I may be able to hike while in the area. My search on line led me to Indiana’s Clifty Falls State Park. Which was not all that far out of my way on my Saturday mornings travel to Cincinnati Ohio. Clifty Falls State park. Which is located in the southeastern part of Indiana nearby Madison Indiana. The park consist of 1,519 acres of parkland surrounding Clifty Creek Canyon as it drains down towards the Ohio River. The trail system consist of ten numbered trails. For a total of twelve miles of trails. I parked at the north gate trailhead parking area just off of Indiana Route 62. And ended up doing a loop hike using trail numbers 8, 3, 4, 5, Park road between Tunnel Falls and Hickory Grove, trail 6 and finally trail 7 back to the parking area. There are four named waterfalls in the park. Big Clifty Falls (60 feet), Little Clifty Falls (60 feet), Hoffman Falls (78 feet) and Tunnel Falls (83 feet). The hike I did hit all the waterfalls. And had a few surprisingly step climbs for being in Indiana Great place for a hike. If one ever finds themselves in this part of Indiana Clifty Falls SP trails mapTrail number 5Clifty CreekTunnel FallsLittle Clifty FallsTrail number 6Clifty Falls from trail number 7 spurClifty Falls from lookout point

Nice discovery, when I did more business traveling there would generally be slack times when I would find some small hidden gems.

Yes this is one of those hidden gems. Been to four state parks in Indiana plus day hiked part of the Knobstone trail. This is now my second favorite Indiana State Park. After Turkey Run State Parks with it's 100 - 200 feet deep sandstone canyons the trails travel through.
